OVERVIEW
Hourlyn connects employee attendance, extra hours, leave requests, daily work updates, and monthly payroll preparation in one web application. Employees record their activity through a dedicated portal, while administrators review requests, approve payable overtime, generate automated Excel timesheets, and send payroll documents by email.
THE PROBLEM
When employees report attendance, overtime, leave, and daily work through different channels, administrators must collect and reconcile those records before they can prepare monthly pay. A missed attendance entry, an unresolved overtime request, or an unclear leave decision can create additional checking and back-and-forth communication.
Manual spreadsheet preparation adds another layer of work, daily hours must be transferred into the correct month, extra hours must be checked against their approval status, and the resulting documents must be distributed to the right employees.

HOW WE FRAMED THE IDEA
Hourlyn was framed around a straightforward chain of responsibility: employees contribute the records of their work, administrators review requests and make approval decisions, and the monthly reporting workflow uses those records to prepare the timesheet and salary documentation.
The design also makes status visible: attendance history, missing records, a pending check-out state, request actions, and monthly timesheet controls help distinguish recorded activity from information that still requires attention.
ARCHITECTURAL THESIS
“An employee's daily activity should become a reviewed monthly record, without being entered again at every administrative step.”
THINK & BUILD
The application is organized around a shared set of workforce records and two role-specific experiences. Employees record attendance and submit extra hours, leave requests, and daily work updates; administrators manage employee records and review every submission.
The monthly timesheet workflow brings the relevant records together: daily working hours form the regular-work input, approved extra hours contribute the overtime input, and the resulting Excel document supports monthly pay preparation and employee communication.

THE SOLUTION
Hourlyn provides a dedicated employee portal for attendance, extra hours, leave, and daily work updates, alongside an administrator portal for employee management and review. The monthly timesheet workflow uses the recorded hours and approved overtime to create an automated Excel report, and email delivery sends the timesheet and final salary document to employees, connecting day-to-day records to the month-end information they need.
